300,000 could be rendered jobless by the Maharashtra Plastic Ban

In an interview to CNBC – TV 18, Mr. Neemit Punamiya, General Secretary of the Plastic Bag Manufacturing Association expressed concern over loss of over 300,000 jobs by closure of over 2,500 Plastic factories in Maharashtra. The ban could affect upto a million jobs indirectly. Over INR 15,000 crores of investment would be rendered useless by the ban. He expressed hope that the State Empowerement committee meeting on 27th June, 2018 would permit use of bags by small businesses like kirana stores, lijjat papad etc.
